Hari Bhajan Khalsa, 2007 Creekwalker Poetry Prize Finalists' Judge, on the poetry of Diana Woodcock:
These poems strike an intelligent and sensitive balance in the use of craft to deliver the poem and emotional depth to move the reader. The narrator is not always an obvious presence, rather he/she rustles behind the poems, calmly and steadily scanning the landscape for deeper understanding of the world around us and within us. As a set of five poems they hang together well, immersed in rich, often exotic, language and having a lyrical swing to them that carries the reader along from the opening stanza to the last lines where we are set down to rest and reflect.
Tom Mark Gilbert, Founder/Editor:
Creekwalker was born out of a desire to explore a place where nature, emotion and language meet. Poetry, the literary form best suited to capture starbursts of emotion and insight, has always been at the forefront of our vision. Whether introducing the work of new poets or broadening the audience for veterans such as Diana Woodcock, Ellaraine Lockie and LouAnn Shepard Muhm, it has been our pleasure to feature poets whose work pursues an illusive meaning that lies beneath the hypnotic surface of everyday life.
